Tambor
Located adjacent to Bahia Ballena (Whale Bay), Tambor is a relaxed vet vibrant hub for the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica. The only airport in the area is located at Tambor, with several flights daily from San Jose that bring visitors out onto the peninsula to enjoy the world class tourism available any day of the year.

For the tourist that wishes to boast that they've really seen the best of Costa Rica, they would have to boast a visit to Tambor and Costa Rica's largest all-inclusive luxury resort just a stone's throw outside of the tiny town, and would have to have traveled offshore for the world class diving and deep sea fishing, golfed on the historic courses on the peninsula, and dined on fresh lobsters while watching a spectacular sunset on the hills above the bay.

The resort provides a healthy employment source for the area, and the tiny town of Tambor itself maintains a thriving village atmosphere. Calm Pacific waters, friendly people, and sprawling coral sand beaches are dotted with an abundance of tour operators and restaurants that recieve visitors year around who come for the beautiful surroundings, the world class fishing, the snorkeling and scuba diving, and the marine migration seasons.

The valley of Tambor lies cradled by lush hills of green forest that are part of the biological corridor of Costa Rica, with the Curu Wildlife Reserve to the north, and the Islas Tortugas just offshore and available by a short boat ride. The beaches of Tambor are absolutely sprawling, with gentle surf, providing a vast open playground for families arriving together, sufficient for volleyball, soccer, sand castle competitions, or horseback riding. Just a kilometer south of Tambor lies a fishing dock where fresh catches are available daily, or scenic boat tours of the area can be arranged.
